The universe is 99.999% plasma.
That's what plasma cosmologists would like to remind us of.
Plasma is electrically charged gas and is the fourth state of matter (after charge-neutral solid, liquid, and gas). Our sun as are all stars are made of plasma. And so are the charged gas in inter-stellar space.
That makes the universe's known mass as made mostly of plasma.
Eric Lerner is the leading advocate of plasma cosmology. Other notable supporters would be the late Hannes Alfvén (Nobel laureate) and Anthony Peratt.
Plasma cosmology holds the following:
(a) electromagnetism together with gravity are the influential forces that pervade the cosmos;
(b) said magnetic force is responsible for the shapes of spiral galaxies and galactic clusters;
(c) the so-called plasma universe is eternal and exists in a steady-state; but
(d) there would be no addition of mass as in the classical steady-state, however.
